Sydney wholesale market legend (you know who we are talking about???!) has reported that chestnuts are moving. Orders for large quantities again next week is very encouraging. Quality has been very good, with only reports of some trouble with Bouche. Prices are down unfortunately.

Melbourne Market deliveries – 15/3/12 – 2 tonnes 17/3/12 – 500kg 19/3/12 – 1 tonne 22/3/12 – 1 tonne
Solid supplies of chestnuts have been in the market now for just over 2 weeks. Bouche were the first to arrive, Buffalo Queen and Knox Early are now available. Small quantities of Red Spanish have started coming in, Purtons are not far off. Nuts are selling fast in Sydney a little slower in Melbourne. Quaility has been reported as good. It would seem prices have peaked early.
